Section-A
Answer any 5 (five) from the following
1. Explain in detail about the mechanism of crossing over. And write down the down factors that influences the crossing over.
2. What is genetic recombination in bacteria? Explain the steps of F+ F- conjugation in bacteria.
3. What is sex-linked inheritance? Explain the X-Linked Inheritance in detail with suitable examples.
4. Define the term 'linkage'. Explain the complete linkage with an example.
5. Define Chromosomal mutation? Explain the structural change in chromosomes in detail.
6. (A). Rabbits ear can be either short or floppy, where short ears are dominant over floppy ears. There are 653 individuals in a population. 104 rabbits have fl oppy ears and 549 have short ear. Find: the frequency of dominant and recessive alleles and the frequency of individuals with dominant, heterozygous and recessive genotype.
(B). The next generation of rabbit has 560 individuals with short ear and 840 individuals with floppy ear. Is the population in Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium.
